We found the Sheriff’s cabin pretty quickly. It helpfully had the word ‘SH3RIFF’ above the door.

Uncle Umberto knocked loudly.

We heard the heavy thuds of footsteps and the door swung open.

An IRON GOLEM stood there, with a scary look on its face.

Sheriff…?

I had no idea how a mob so big could fit inside a cabin so small.

Uncle Umberto opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off.

‘Hello, Sheriff. I believe you have been taxing my mobs too many Coins! We have come to sort you out,’ I said.

‘Your mobs?’ the Iron Golem asked. He sounded as tough as he looked. But I was the chosen one, and chosen ones are NOT AFRAID.

‘Yes, I am Prince Zombie, soon to be crowned King Zombie. You may have heard of me. These mobs are my… um, con... con... CONSTITUENTS! So I am looking after them.’

‘Constituents?’ Uncle Umberto looked at me in surprise.

‘Yes, constituents.’ I nodded. ‘I know some big words.’

Uncle Umberto leaned down to whisper to me, ‘Okay, but I don’t think you’re using the right word. Constituents are mobs who vote for their leader. These mobs didn’t vote for you.’

‘The Board of Elders did!’ I hissed. I turned back to the Iron Golem Sheriff. ‘As I was saying! Stop taxing my mobs so many Coins! Or I’ll… um… I’ll have you THROWN IN THE DUNGEON!’

The Sheriff threw his head back and gave a BOOMING laugh. Then he slammed the door in our faces.

‘Umm… okay, next on the list,’ Uncle Umberto said, and pulled the crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket.

‘Next?’ I was confused. ‘But we haven’t sorted the Sheriff out!’

Uncle Umberto shook his head. ‘Well, it was always a LONG SHOT anyway. We’ll come back later if we have time.’

I didn’t understand what was going on at all, but I nodded.

As we walked down the street, I looked at the mobs wandering around. ‘So no one here is my constituent?’ I asked.

‘Yeah, definitely the wrong word. Constituents vote. No one here voted,’ Uncle Umberto said firmly.

‘Except the Board of Elders,’ I said.

‘Yeah, except them.’ Uncle Umberto changed topics quickly, ‘Anyway, next stop—a Creeper that’s SCARING off all the Humans without giving anyone else a chance. The poor young mobs here have no one to scare for their exams!’

‘So what’re we gonna do? Scare the Creeper like we scare Humans? Make the Creeper explode?!’

‘No, we’re just going to have a nice little chat,’ Uncle Umberto said.

Phew. That sounded a lot safer.

But all we were doing here was having chats. If this was what being a prince was, it was kinda boring.
